Please answer the question please please please please please please please please please please. A sample of hard water was boiled for sometime it was cooled and shaken with soap it did not produce lather readily .From the above observation answer the following questions.1) Is the hardness temporary or permanent? 2)which salts are responsible for the type of hardness? 3)how do you remove this type of hardness from water ?

hey there is answer !!

I hope you help !!
hardness.....

A GCSE quiz focused on hard and soft water, looking at the causes and methods used to soften hard water. Also, looks at water quality and treatment.

What causes hardness?

Dissolved calcium and magnesiumsalts.

Mostly the chlorides, sulfates and hydrogencarbonates of these metals.

What causes temporary hardness?

Ca(HCO₃)₂
calcium hydrogencarbonate

also Mg(HCO₃)₂

Explain how temporary hardness forms in water.

In 2 stages:
Rain water dissolves some CO₂ gas present in the air. This forms a very, very weak solution of carbonic acid.
H₂O(l) + CO₂(g) → H₂CO₃(aq)

While limestone (CaCO₃) doesn't dissolve in pure water, it reacts with the carbonic acid in the water to form a soluble salt called calcium hydrogencarbonate; the cause of temporary hardness.

CaCO₃(s) + H₂CO₃(aq) → Ca(HCO₃)₂(aq)

Show the formation of temporaryhardness in a single balanced symbol equation (including state symbols.

CaCO₃(s) + H₂O(l) + CO₂(g) → Ca(HCO₃)₂(aq)

Explain how permanent hardness forms in water.

Minerals in the soil, composed of MgCl₂, CaCl₂, MgSO₄ and CaSO₄ simply dissolve (sparingly) in the water.

Ans 1 ) The Hardness of the water is Permanent .

Ans 2 ) Salts which are responsible for this type of Hardness are Calcium and Magnesium salts

i.e CaSO4 or MgSO4

Ans 3 ) We can remove this Permanent Hardness of this water by the use of Washing Soda (Na2CO3.10H2O)
