\large\underline{\underline\mathsf\blue{QUESTION}}

The area of the four walls of a room is 120m². The length is twice the breadth. If height of the room is 4m, find the breadth.

\large\underline{\underline\mathsf\green{SOLUTION}}

GIVEN

  • Area of four walls = 120m²
  • Length is twice its breadth .
  • Height of the room = 4m.

TO FIND

  • Breadth of the room.

FORMULA

  • Area of four walls = 2h(l+b)
  1. h is the height.
  2. l is the length.
  3. b is the breadth.

Let, The breadth be ,

then the length will be 2x

ACCORDING TO QUESTION

\bold{\hookrightarrow A = 2h(l+b)}

\bold{\hookrightarrow 120 = 2×4 (2x + x)}

\bold{\hookrightarrow 120 = 8 (3x)}

\bold{\hookrightarrow \frac{120}{8} = 3x}

\bold{\hookrightarrow 15 =3x}

\bold{\hookrightarrow \frac{15}{3} = x}

\bold{\hookrightarrow 5 = x}

THEREFORE

  • breadth = x = 5m
  • length = 2x = 2×5 =10m
