QUESTION (A):

Given,

SRQP is a square.

RQ = 17cm

PQ = 3y+2

PQ = RQ (all sides of a square are equal)

3y + 2 = 17

3y = 17-2

3y = 15

y = 15/3

y = 5

x = 90° (as diagonals bisect each other at 90°)

QUESTION (B)

Given,

angle SUV = 125°

since it's a square,

SR = SP (all sides of a square are equal)

Hence, SRP is a isosceles.

angle SPR + angle SRP + angle S = 180°

we know that, angle S = 90° (the interior corner angles of a square are 90°)

since it's isosceles, angle SPR and angle SRP will be equal.

which is :

x + x + 90 = 180

2x + 90 = 180

2x = 180-90

2x = 90

x = 90/2

x = 45°

in UVP,

angle UPR = 45°

angle VUP = 180-125 (straight line)

angle VUP = 55°

y =180-55-45 = angle UVP (vertically opposite angles) y = 180-100=80°

QUESTION (5)

Given,

ABCD is a parallelogram

angle DAB = 73°

angle DAB = angle DCB (opposite angles of a parallelogram are equal)

73 = 38+x

73-38 = x

35 = x

in ACD

angle DAC = 73° angle DCA = 35°

angle ADC = 180-73-35 (interior angles of a triangle sum upto 180°)

angle ADC = 180-108

angle ADC = 72

angle ADC = y

72° = y (opposite angles of a parallelogram are equal)

hope it helps!

have a great day
