(a)the height of the window is 8m (altitude)

distance of foot of ladder is 6m (base)

the length of the ladder = X (hypotenuse)

so, by Pythagoras theorem

altitude²+base²=hypotenuse²

8²+6²=hypotenuse ²

64+36=hypotenuse ²

100=hypotenuse ²

√100=hypotenuse

so, hypotenuse , the length of the ladder =10 m

(b)if the distance of foot of ladder is changed to 8m

and the length of the ladder is kept the same as 10m

then , the height of the top reach will be 6m
