1. area of triangle PDQ=1/2×b×h

=1/2×6×10

=3×10

=30cm²

area of triangle PCB=1/2×b×h

=1/2×8×10

=4×10

=40cm²

area of ABCD=l×b

=18×10

=180cm²

area of unshaded portion=180-(40+30)

=180-70

=110cm²

there is no shaded portion in the 1st figure but I think qpba is the unshaded portion because I had done this question before.


2. area of DGX= 1/2×b×h

=1/2×20×40

=10×40

=400cm²

area of xye=1/2×b×h

=1/2×20×20

=10×20

=200cm²

area of GFY=1/2×b×h

=1/2×20×40

=10×40

=400cm²

area of defg= side×side

=40×40

=1600cm²

area of unshaded portion=1600-(400+200+400)

=1600-1000

=600cm²
