It is to be distinguished (usually) from the county, which may encompass rural territory or numerous small communities such as towns, villages and hamlets.
7. Old delhi was established by mughals. They also created walls and gates around it. Because of this it is also known as walled city. There are about 8 to 9 gates of old delhi.
New delhi was established by british empire. The area developed around it in the later years is also referred to as new delhi.
F. 4. After the partition the population of Delhi increased largely. People were living in camps, schools, military camps and gardens. Large number of people lost their lives, houses and property. The muslims of Delhi had to migrate as their homes were looted by sikhs and Hindus. They started from zero, started working as vendors, hawkers and carpenters who were once lawyers and doctors.
