The poet feels that visits to the dentist are a vicious cycle because in order to keep our teeth clean, we cannot escape visiting the dentist. It is ironic that the reason why people want to keep their teeth in good condition, is so that they do not have to visit the dentist. But to do so, we must visit the dentist regularly.
