Ans: We do so in an attempt to capture the characteristics of a time, its central features as they appear to us. So the terms through which we periodise – that is, demarcate the difference between periods – become important. They reflect our ideas about the past.

When Company in Calcutta got this news, they sent an army under Robert Clive and defeated the Nawab at Plassey.

After plassey:

After his victory at Plassey, Clive was appointed Governor of Bengal. This confirmed British military supremacy in the region and gave the Company a political stake in India.

3)

The concept of separation of powers refers to a system of government in which the powers are divided among multiple branches of the government, each branch controlling different facet of government.

Separation of powers, therefore, refers to the division of government responsibilities into distinct branches to limit any one branch from exercising the core functions of another. The intent is to prevent the concentration of power and provide for checks and balances.
