Given - y ( a + 3b ) + 3ab

= - ay - 3by + 3ab

= y ( y - a ) - 3b ( y - a )

= ( y - a )( y - 3b )

Therefore.,

y² - y ( a + 3b ) + 3ab = ( y - a )( y - 3b )
