1) The primary purpose of a flower is reproduction. Since the flowers are the reproductive organs of plant, it helps carry forward the plants genes. So it is important to the plant.

2) (a) Sperm (b) Ovum

3) Nectar is a sugary fluid secreted within flowers to encourage pollination by insects. It is important to the insects since nectar is an ecologically important item, the sugar source for honey. It is also useful because the adult stages of some predatory insects feed on nectar.

4) Pollination is the transfer of pollen from a male part of a plant to a female part of a plant, enabling later fertilization and the production of seeds, most often by an animal or by wind

5) Self-pollination occurs when the pollen from the anther is deposited on the stigma of the same flower or another flower on the same plant. Cross-pollination is the transfer of pollen from the anther of one flower to the stigma of another flower on a different plant of the same species.

6) Insect pollination is crucial to most gardens and is as simple as insects like bees, butterflies and wasps flying from flower to flower in order to collect nectar. In the process, pollen collects on their bodies and rubs off on other flowers that they visit.
