By Pythagoras Theorem we have,

(BC square)=(ABsquare)+(ACsquare)

(BCsquare)=(12square)+(5square)

(BCsquare)=144+25

(BC)=169(root)

(BC)=13m

AD=AC+CB(BC=CD)

=5+13

=18m

The original height of a tree is 18m.
