1. With the no. of electrons in outer most shell

2. (i) 8 is the atomic number

(ii) Neutral because there is a balance of both the electrical charges

3. All isotopes of a given element have the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons in each atom. Ex: Proterium, Deuterium

4. Isobars are atoms (nuclides) of different chemical elements that have the same number of nucleons. Ex: 40 S, 40 Cl

5. cobalt-60 is extensively employed as a radiation source to arrest the development of cancer. Other radioactive isotopes are used as tracers for diagnostic purposes as well as in research on metabolic processes.

6. Isotopes

7. (i) Electronic configuration is 2, 6, 8

(ii) Valency is 0 as its in octet state

8. Protons are 8 and neuteons are 7 (Neutrons =Mass no. -Protons

9. (i) Identity of he atom Ex: Hydrogen is 1

(ii) Mass no. is mass of the atom and its 1 for Hydrogen again

10. KLMN are maim shells of the atom, so it filled both of them and each shell has SPDF again
