first we will find the area of whole sq.
s=10cm
area of sq. =s^2
=10×10=100
area of trapezium is 1/2 (parrall sides sum)×height of trapezium
by figure
h=2cm
a (parrall side)=10cm
b (another parallel side )=6cm (10-2-2)
total trapeziums are 4
by putting values
=4×1/2 (10+6)2
=4 (16)
=64
area of shaded region is area of sq. area of 4 trapeziums
we get 100-64=36cmsq.

other easy method is
side of shaded region =10-2-2=6
area of shaded sq. will be
6×6=36cmsq
hope it will help you

Mahaswetaaa: how did you found out that other parallel side is 6
