$x + y = 180(i) \\ x - y = 46 (ii)\\ 2x = 34 \\x = 34 \div 2 \\ x = 17$

Substituting x = 17 in eqn. 2

$y- 17 = 46 \\ y = 46 + 17 \\ y = 63$

Thus the two angles are 17° & 63°

4) Let first angle be 7x

and second angle be 8x

$7x + 8x = 90 \\ 15x = 90 \\ x = 90 \div 15 \\ x = 6$

therefore first angle = 7x = 7 × 6 = 42°

second angle = 8x = 8 × 6 = 48°
