Use BD^2=AD.DC That's all. it's not difficult, but uses a theorem or equation that is not mentioned in the NCERT.
BD^2= 8×2 =16
i.e., BD=√16
i.e., BD=+4 cm.
Note: to prove this, you can use Pythagoras theorem or Similarity.
