Answer:

8. Let's draw the triangle (See file attached below, I used ms paint for the figure)

Let AB be 12 cm, and AC be 13 cm.

Using Pythagoras theorem:

AB²+BC²=AC²

12²+BC²=13²

BC²=13²-12²

BC²=169-144

BC²=25

BC=√25

BC=5 cm.

The other leg of the triangle is 5 cm.

9.

(i) We know that the sum of angles of a triangle is 180°. Hence, if ∠P+∠Q+∠R=180°, PQR is a triangle.

65+35+70=180

170≠180

Since the sum of the angles of PQR are not equal to 180°, PQR is not a triangle.

(ii) We know that sum of two sides of a triangle should be greater than the third side. Or, we have to prove:

XY+YZ>ZX

5+5>12

10<12

But, XY+YZ<ZX, in other words, the sum of two sides of a triangle is not greater than the third side. Thus, XYZ is not a triangle.

HOPE THIS HELPS :D
