See we can't say atomic number as number of electrons beacuse when is are formed electrons exchange not protons. So say if i take hydrogen ion, it has 0 electrons which doesn't mean 0 atomic number but proton number remains one

01rohangarg01: by the way protons even get exchanged in nuclear reactions but we see the atom in free state for determining atomic number
