SoLuTioN :

1. If a car starts at rest and accelerates uniformly, the distance it travels is proportional to the <strong>t^2</strong> of the time it travels.

✏ As per second equation of kinematics...

 \sf \: s = ut +  \frac{1}{2} a {t}^{2}  \\  \\  \mapsto \sf \: since \: u = 0 \rightarrow \: s =  \frac{1}{2} a {t }^{2}  \\  \\  \sf \therefore \:  \red{s \propto {t}^{2} }

2. The speedometer of a car measures its instantaneous speed.

3. The slope of x → t graph gives the velocity of motion.

4. Area below v → t graph is measure of Distance travelled.

5. If a car is going northward and the driver jams on its breaks, the direction of its accelerationis southward.

✏ Because of retardation.

Additional information:

  • Slope of v → t graph gives acceleration.
  • Area between the a → t graph and its time axis gives change in velocity.
