Explanation: mgs per ml is the concentration of AgNO3. It is 40 mgs right now which means in 1 ml of the solution there is 40 mgs of AgNO3. We have to bring it down to 16 mgs. This can be done by adding more water as the value has to be decreased. now 1 ml of the solution should have 16mgs of AgNO3. And because 40÷16 is 2.5, we will add 2.5 ml for each ml (if there is already 10 ml we will add 2.5×10 or if there is 20 ml already we will add 2,5×20)
