= 5/9 - 4/3

= (5 - 12)/9

= (-7/9)

(x + y)^-1 = (-7/9)^-1 = -9/7

now

x ^-1 + y^-1

= (5/9)^-1 + (-4/3)^-1

= 9/5 + (-3/4)

= 9/5 - 3/4

= (9*4 - 3*5)/20

= (36 - 15)/20

= 21/20
