The experiment shows that soil contains moisture,that is, the water containing property of soil.

Percentage of moisture = [(Initial wt - wt after heating)/Initial wt] x 100

For sample A,

Percentage = [(50 - 35)/50]  = (15/50) x 100 = 30%

For sample B,

Percentage = [(50 - 28)/50] = (22/50) x 100 = 44%

For sample C,

Percentage = [(50 - 48)/50] = (2/50) x 100 = 4%

Clayey soil contains the least amount of moisture, therefore sample C is clayey soil.

Sandy soil contains the most amount of moisture, therefore sample B is sandy soil.
