A light ray is incident normally on a plane mirror.

To find:

1. Angle of incidence

2. Direction of reflected ray

Concept:

Angle of incidence is the angle between the incident ray and the normal to the surface.

So , since the incident ray is normal to the surface , it means it is present at 90° to the surface.

So the angle of incidence is 0°.

Now, As per rules of reflection, we know that angle of incidence is equal to angle of reflection.

So angle of reflection = 0°.

So the reflected ray traces back the same path . So it remains normal to the mirror.
