about 2nd and 3rd part -

properties - low melting point

                   low resistivity

reason for series with live wire- if the fuse is connected in the live wire it will collect the malfunctioning extra voltage of current and then it burns and break the circuit.

when it is connected in neutral wire which already nullify the extra voltage,it is useless and sometimes have a chance to get shock
