-solution X remains colourless in phenolphthalein so it will be an acid.

-solution Y and sugar water makes phenolphthalein turn pink. since sugar water is neutral and the solution turns pink, solution Y must be alkali.

so finally, SOLUTION X IS ACID

SOLUTION Y IS BASIC/ALKALI.

properties of ACIDS - Acids taste sour, conduct electricity when dissolved in water, and react with metals to produce hydrogen gas.

properties of BASES - Bases are ionic compounds that produce negative hydroxide ions (OH-) when dissolved in water. Bases taste bitter, feel slippery, and conduct electricity when dissolved in water.

hope this helped. please mark it as brainliest
