Question : 5

a) (-\frac{4}{3} × \frac{6}{4}) + \frac{7}{2} - (\frac{6}{4} × (\frac{8}{9}

= -2 + \frac{7}{2} - \frac{4}{3}

= \frac{-12+21+8}{6}

= \frac{1}{6}

b) \frac{4}{5} × (- \frac{6}{5}) - (\frac{4}{5} × (\frac{3}{2} +( (\frac{1}{14} × (\frac{2}{5} )

= \frac{-12}{5} + \frac{1}{35}

= - \frac{83}{5}

Question : 6

a) The ages of Saachin and Soham are in the ratio 7:5.

Thus there ages are, sachin = 7x and soham =  5x

4 year hence their ages will be

Sachin’s age =  7x + 4

Soham’s age = 5x + 4

The ratio of their ages

\frac{7x + 4}{5x + 4} = \frac{4}{3}

Solving this equation

x = 4

∴ Sachin's age = 7x = 28

∴ Soham's age = 4x = 16

b) Let the 2-digit number = 10x + y

∴ Sum of digits = x + y = 9                  ................................EQUATION 1

If digits are interchanged

New number = 10y + x

10y + x = 10x + y + 27                               ................................EQUATION 2

Solving equation 1 and 2

we get x = 3 , y = 6

∴ ORIGINAL NUMBER = 10x + y = 36
