Five major changes brought about in Delhi by Britishers were:-
- The decision to shift the capital was forwarded in 1911 to British parliament, which was approved.
- To develop Delhi , they needed large work force and area to settle workers. Thus they acquired trans yamuna area from United Provinces and merged with Delhi.
- Raisena hills were selected to build capital. Earlier all English settlements were towards north of Red fort.
- Significant land was acquired from Rohilla setlers of Sarai Rohilla, to tranfer agriculture institute from Pusa (Bihar) to Delhi.
- Viceroy residence ( now President House) and chief of army staff (Teen Murti bhavan) , parliament house with north and south block were constructed.
