Explanation:

Five major changes brought about in Delhi by Britishers were:-

  1. The decision to shift the capital was forwarded in 1911 to British parliament, which was approved.
  2. To develop Delhi , they needed large work force and area to settle workers. Thus they acquired trans yamuna area from United Provinces and merged with Delhi.
  3. Raisena hills were selected to build capital. Earlier all English settlements were towards north of Red fort.
  4. Significant land was acquired from Rohilla setlers of Sarai Rohilla, to tranfer agriculture institute from Pusa (Bihar) to Delhi.
  5. Viceroy residence ( now President House) and chief of army staff (Teen Murti bhavan) , parliament house with north and south block were constructed.
