Step-by-step explanation:

L.H.S=

 \frac{ \cos( 90 - \alpha ) \times \cos( \alpha ) }{ \tan( \alpha ) } + \cos ^{2} ( 90 - \alpha )

=

 \frac{ \sin( \alpha ) \cos( \alpha ) }{ \tan( \alpha ) } + \sin ^{2} ( \alpha )

=

 \frac{ \sin( \alpha) \cos( \alpha ) }{ \frac{ \sin( \alpha )) }{ \cos( \alpha ) } } + \sin ^{2} ( \alpha )

=

 \frac{ \sin( \alpha) \cos ^{2} ( \alpha ) }{ \sin( \alpha ) } + \sin ^{2} ( \alpha )

=

 \cos ^{2} ( \alpha ) + \sin ^{2} ( \alpha )

=1 = R.H.S

hence proved
