f(x) =  {x}^{2}  +  |x - 5|  - 1 = 0

 {(x - 5)}^{2}  + |x - 5|   + 10(x - 5)  + 24 = 0

 \implies  x_{1,2} = ±i \sqrt{  \frac{1}{2}( \sqrt{97}   - 1)}

Therefore, there are no real solutions
