According to the law of conservation of linear momentum,

Momentum of bullet + Momentum of block=

Momentum of system

mu + 0 = (M + m)x [According to statement]

0.005 × 900 = (50 + 0.005) × x [Substituting values]

x = 4.5 ÷ 50.005

x = 0.089991 [ 0.09 approx]

Therefore velocity of the sandbag due to impact of the bullet Is 0.089
