40 divided by 6

= 6.66666666....................

Required answer :

The first 40 positive integers divisible by 6 are 6,12,18,..and so on....(upto 40 terms)

Therefore,

The given series is in A. P.(arithmetic progession) with :

First term a = 6

And also ,

Common difference d = 6

We know that :

  \sf \longrightarrow { \underline{ \boxed{ \sf{ sum \: of \: n \: terms = \frac{n}{2} (2a + (n - 1) d)}}}} \\

Where,

n = 6

a = 40

d = 6

Substituting the given values as follows :

 \sf \longrightarrow  \frac{ \cancel{40}}{ \cancel 2}  \times  \{2(6) + (40 - 1)6 \}\\

 \sf \longrightarrow \: 20 \{ 12 + 39 \times 6\}\\

 \sf \longrightarrow 20 \{12 + 234 \}\\

 \sf \longrightarrow 20 \{ 246\}\\

 \sf \longrightarrow  \bf{4920}  \: ans.
