Required method:-

If the questioner asked with can, we answer with can. Verbs such as 'can, do' are called modal verbs, because these words don't stand alone, but helps other verbs to stand along.

We should use the same modal verbs groups when we answer a question.

  • Can, could.
  • May, might.
  • Should, shall.
  • Will, would.

The first modal verbs are used in conversation. The second modal verbs are used in formal situations.

Solution:-

1. A: Can you lend me your English book for a day?

B: Sorry, I can't. I need to read it tonight.

2. A: Could you give me 50 taka?

   B: Sorry, I can't. I have only 20 taka with me.

3. A: Can you give me your calculator, please?

B: Yes, I can. Here it is.

4. A: Can you get me a notebook and a ballpen from the stationers?

B: Yes. Of course, I can.

5. A: Can you put my box in the car, please?

   B: Yes, I can. I will.
