• Draw a line segment AB such that it is 7.5cm long.
• Now the extend the line to a point c so that B is a point on the line segment AC and BC = 1cm
• Find the midpoint of AC and name it O Now with O at the centre and radius equal to OA. Draw a semi circle with AC as the diameter
• At the point B, make an angle of 90° such that the line intersects the semi circle just drawn at a point D. Join DC.
• With BD as the radius and B as the centre and draw an arc to cut the extended line segment AC at E.

BE is the required line that is under root 7.5 units long.
