Sum of two consecutive odd numbers is 100. What are the numbers?

Answer :-

Let the first number be x

Then the second number = x + 2

Sum of two numbers = 100

x+x+2 = 100

2x + 2 = 100

2x = 100-2 = 98

x = 98÷2 = 49

Numbers = 49, 51

Activity 6 :-

The length of rectangle is 5 metres less than twice the breadth. If the perimeter 50 metres, find the length and breadth of rectangle.

Answer :-

Let the breadth be x

The length = 2x - 5

Perimeter = 50 metres

Length + Breadth = Perimeter/2 = 50/2 = 25

2x + 5 + x = 25

3x - 5 = 25

3x = 25+5 = 30

x = 30/3 = 10

Breadth = 10 m, Length = 15 m
