Explanation:

Electric field at axial point due to short dipole = 2Kp/r^3

Electric field at equatorial point due to short dipole = Kp/r^3

                       E axial / E equatorial =  2kp/r^3 / kp/r^3 = 2 / 1 = 2

The ratio of electric field in axial position to the equatorial position at the same distance due to a short dipole is = 2 : 1 or 2
