  • A = {1, 3, 5, 7, 8}

To verify :-

  • A- (B ∩ C) = (A- B ) ∪ (A- C)
  • (A ∪B)' = A' ∩ B '

Solution :-

Firstly take 1st Question

A- (B ∩ C) = (A- B ) ∪ (A- C)

Take L.H.S

A- (B ∩ C )

We find first (B ∩ C )

(B ∩ C ) = { 1, 2, 3, 4} ∩ { 3, 4, 6, 8}

(B ∩ C ) = { 3, 4}

So,

A- (B ∩ C ) = {1, 3, 5, 7 , 8} - {3,4}

A- (B ∩ C ) = { 1, 5, 7, 8}

L.H.S = {1, 5, 7, 8}

Now take R.H.S

(A- B ) ∪ (A- C)

Firstly we find A- B and A-C

A- B = {1, 3, 5, 7, 8} - {1, 2, 3, 4}

A-B = { 5, 7, 8}

A- C = {1, 3, 5, 7, 8} - { 3, 4, 6, 8}

A- C = { 1, 5 , 7, 8}

Now , finding

(A- B ) ∪ (A- C)

{ 5, 7, 8} ∪ { 1, 5, 7, 8}

{1, 5, 7, 8}

(A- B ) ∪ (A- C) = {1, 5, 7, 8}

R.H. S = {1, 5, 7, 8}

L.H.S = R.H.S = {1, 5 ,7, 8}
