Answer:

i) ● Reaction with acid, X = CaCO3

CaCO3 + 2HCl --- CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O (CO2 gas evolved)

● Reaction of gas (CO2) with Y= Ca(OH)2

Ca(OH)2 + CO2 --- CaCO3 + H2O

●Electrolysis of brine passed

On electrolysis, brine (NaCl) gives Cl2 at anode

So, gas G is Cl2

Ca(OH)2 + Cl2 --- CaOCl2 + H2O, Z = CaOCl2 is the bleaching power used as disinfectant

ii) X = CaCO3

Y = Ca(OH)2

Z = CaOCl2

hope this will help you
