Question:- The parallel sides of a trapezium are 20 cm and 10 cm . It's non - parallel sides are both equal , each being 13 cm . Find the area of trapezium ?

Solution:-

We divide the trapezium into 3 parts: 2 triangles and a rectangle.

We divide the trapezium into 3 parts: 2 triangles and a rectangle.Base of triangle =20-10/2 = 5

Height of the triangle and rectangle (h) 2 = 13^2 - 5^2

= (h)^2 = 144

⇒h=12

Area of trapezium= 1/2 * ( sum of parallel sides ) *( height )

= 1/2 * (10+20)*(12)

= 180 sq.cm

Hence , area of trapezium is 180 sq.cm

Hope this helps:-)
