Law of Conservation of Mass states that, "Mass can neither be created nor be destroyed in a chemical reaction."

In other words, total mass of reactants

= total mass of products

3) Given reaction :

Hydrocarbon + Oxygen --> Water + Carbon Dioxide

Mass of Hydrocarbon = 0.22 g

Mass of Oxygen = 1.12 g

Therefore, total mass of reactants

= 0.22 + 1.12

= 1.34 g

Mass of Water = 0.9 g

Mass of Carbon Dioxide = 0.44

Therefore, total mass of products

= 0.9 + 0.44

= 1.34 g

Therefore, total mass of ractants = total mass of products = 1.34 g

Therefore, the given reaction is in accordance with the law of conservation of mass.

4) Given reaction :

Ethane + Oxygen --> Carbon Dioxide + Water

Mass of Ethane = 3.0 g

Mass of Oxygen = 11.2

Therefore, total mass of reactants

= 3.0 + 11.2

= 14.2 g

Mass of Carbon Dioxide = 8.8 g

Mass of Water = 5.4 g

Therefore, total mass of products

= 8.8 + 5.4

= 14.2

Therefore, total mass of ractants = total mass of products = 14.2 g

Therefore, the given reaction is in accordance with the law of conservation of mass.
