AB =AC+AC
AB=2AC
AC =1/2AB

Adding AC to both sides:

AC + AC = BC  + AC  (If equals are added to equals, the wholes are equal)

2AC = AB (Things which coincide with one another are equal to one another)

2AC/2 = AB/2 (Things which are halves of the same thing are equal to one another)

Therefore, AC = 1/2AB
