Sum of zeroes of a polynomial is given by

 \frac{- coffiecient of x}{coffiecient of x }

=  \frac{2}{k^2 -14}

Given,

Sum of zeroes = 1

 \frac{2}{k^2 -14} = 1

k²-14 = 2
k² = 16
k = ±4
