(a) wavelength = 2.5 m

time period = (4.5-2.5 ) 10^-3=2 × 10-³

then , frequency = 1/time period = 1/2 × 10-³ hz

=>velocity = wavelength × frequency

=> velocity = 2.5 × 1/2 × 10-³
=> velocity = 2.5 × 500 = 1250 m/s

(b). Transverse waves are those in which the displacement is perpendicular to the velocity of the wave. Examples include light, a wiggling string, ocean waves, and ripples from a stone thrown into a pond. Longitudinal waves have displacement along the same direction of thewave velocity.

(c) time = 3.2 s

speed of sound = 1500m/s

distance = speed of sound × time

distance = 1500 × 3.2 = 4800 m
