For this question the equation of one-dimensional motion must be used

v=u+gt

where v is final velocity

u initial velocity

g is the acceleration due to gravity

the final velocity is 0

by convention the g is taken as negative for ascent

0=5-10t

-5=-10t

5/10=t

2=t (Ans)

For distance you can use both h=ut-1/2agt^2

or

h=v^2-u^2/-2g

using any one of them

h=5×0.5-0.5×10×0.5×0.5

h=2.5-1.25

h=1.25m (ans)
