Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

The area of a rectangular plot is 528 m² .The length of the plot is one more than twice its breadth .

To find :-

Represent the following situation in the form of a quadratic equation ?

Solution :-

Let the breadth of the rectangular plot be X m

Then , the length of the rectangular plot =

One more than twice the breadth

=> (2X+1) m

Area of a rectangle = lb sq.units

=> (2X+1)(X) sq.m

=> (2X×X)+(1×X)

=> 2X²+X sq.m

According to the given problem

Area of the rectangular plot = 528 m²

=> 2X²+X = 528

=> 2X²+X-528 = 0

Answer:-

The required equation for finding the length and the breadth of the rectangular plot is

2X²+X-528 = 0

Check:-

2X²+X-528 = 0

=> 2X²-32X+33X-528 = 0

=> 2X(X-16) +33 (X-32) = 0

=> (X-16)(2X+33) = 0

=> X-16 = 0 or 2X+33 = 0

=> X = 16 or X = -33/2

X can not be negative

=> X = 16 m

Breadth = 16 m

Length = 16+1 = 17 m

Area = 17×16 = 528 m²

Verified the given relations in the given problem

Used formulae:-

  • Area of a rectangle = lb sq.units

  • l = length

  • b = breadth
