Answer:

(7) The digestive functions of saliva includes moistening in food, and helping to create a food bolus,so it can be swallowed easily . Saliva contains the enzyme amylase that breaks some starches down into maltose and dextrin . Thus, digestion of food occurs within the mouth , even before the food reaches the stomach.

(8) Peristalsis, involuntary movements of the longitudinal and circular muscles, primarily in the digestive tract but occasionally in other hollow tubes of the body, that occur in progressive wavelike contractions . Peristaltic waves occur in the esophagus, stomach and intestines.

(9) The gastric glands are located in different regions in the stomach . These are the fundic glands , the cardiac glands and the pyloric glands . The glands and gastric pits are located in the stomach lining.

(10) Hydrochloric acid keeps the stomach pH acidic . As HCI a strong acid it will kill most of the bacteria present in the food. The other main function is to convert pepsinogen into pepsin.
