Explanation

First Rationalize denominator of x

==> x = 1/(3+2√2)

==> x = (3-2√2)/(3+2√2)(3-2√2)

==> x = (3-2√2)/(9-8)

==> x = (3-2√2)

Now, Calculate value of ( x - 1/x)

==> (x - 1/x) = (3-2√2) - (3+2√2)

==> (x - 1/x) = 3 - 3 - 2√2 - 2√2

==> (x - 1/x) = -4√2

[ √2 = 1.414 ]

==> (x - 1/x) = -4 × 1.414

==> (x - 1/x) = - 5.656
