I wrote the answer earlier but couldnt send it why IDK Take the answer again

1.It is because the farmer can only afford to build a well instead of a canal

2.It is more easy for the farmer to use a well because it is a simple machine as compared to a canal.

  • Well is an independent source of irrigation and can be used as and when the necessity arises.
  • In canal irrigation farmers has to pay regularly , but wells are their own property.
  • It is more reliable during periods of famine when surface water dries up.
