Explanation:

A)Because the wick is absorbent it sucks the liquid wax into the wick and upward into the flame. Once the liquid wax gets hot enough, it then turns from a liquid into a gas. The hot gas then reacts with the oxygen from the air and is burned, creating the candle flame that we see.

B)Magnesium hydroxide as a substitute for caustic soda and lime. Magnesium hydroxide is the least expensive and most powerful alkaline chemical treatment available on the market for pH control applications. At the same time, it is by far the safest and most gentle to use.

C)If you want an acid environment, but cant't use hydrochloric acid, you might consider vinegar (i.e. acetic acid). Acetic acid is sometimes used in chemistry experiments because of an old chemistry rule of thumb: All acetate salts are soluble in water.
