the element is aluminium. its chloride would be AlCl₃ or in terms of x it would be XCl₃

sudhir21: no its ferric chloride
safiasaheb: why can't it be aluminium?
sudhir21: its electrode potential is higher so can't react with clorine
safiasaheb: i didn't get you
sudhir21: electrode potential
sudhir21: you know the meaning
safiasaheb: it's ok thanks anyways for correcting me

Sine the formula of the oxide of the compound is X2O3, it suggests that the valency of X is 3. The valency of chlorine is 1, so the formula of the chloride if X is XCl3.
hope this will helpful

sudhir21: ya ferric chloride
akkipilania34: ya
sudhir21: ye
