GIVEN :

  • Two bodies of mass m1 and m2 kg.
  • Two bodies are attached at the free points of free ends of a spring.
  • Acceleration of first body = ‘a’ m/s².

TO FIND :

  • The acceleration of the second body.

SOLUTION :

\implies \sf a \: = \: \dfrac {(m_1 \: - \: m_2)g}{(m_1 \: + \: m_2)}

\implies \sf a_cm \: = \: \sum mi

\implies \sf a_cm \: = \: a \: (m_1 \: - \: m_2)

\implies \sf a_cm \: \dfrac {(m_1 \: - \: m_2)}{m_1 \: + \: m_2} \: g

\implies \sf m_1 g \: - \: T \: = \: m_2 a ---------- (i)

\implies \sf T \: - \: m_2 g \: = \: m_2 a ---------- (ii)

From the both above equations,

We get,

\boxed {\red {\sf a \: = \: \dfrac {(m_1 \: - \: m_2) \: g}{m_1 \: + \: m_2}}}
