Given:

Ratio of two numbers = 3:5

Sum of two numbers = 140

To find:

Numbers= ?

Solution:

According to question,

Ratio of two numbers = 3:5

Let the common multiple of two numbers be x.

So, first number = 3x and other number = 5x.

Also, it is given that

Sum of two numbers = 140

3x + 5x = 140

8x = 140

x = 140/8

x = 17.5

First number = 3x = 3(17.5) = 52.5

Second number = 5x = 5(17.5) = 87.5

Thus, required numbers are 52.5 and 87.5.
